Olympic curling: Men’s round robin results session 10 and 11
There’s one more session left in the men’s round robin tournament after tonight. Here are the scores from the games in round 10 and 11.
The Olympic curling men’s round robin tournament is coming to an end, meaning the games in these final sessions are absolutely vital for establishing standings for the semifinals and tiebreaker matches that begin Wednesday in America. With one final session left, here are the scores from men’s curling session 10 and session 11.
Sweden is a lock to enter the semifinals, but the remaining three spots are very much up for grabs. Great Britain, Canada and Switzerland are the early favorites with 5 wins each, but no one can rest their brooms yet: a few three-win teams could win out and earn a bid into the tiebreaker games.
Round robin session 10
Italy had no shot at the tie-breaker games entering this match, but with the win, Sweden made their own bid for a semifinal spot untouchable. Korea’s win over Switzerland may be more interference than anything else. With only one more game to play in session 12, three wins aren’t enough to earn a tie-breaker spot for Korea, but holding Switzerland back could prove crucial for other teams on that three-win bubble.
Great Britain def. Norway, 10-3
Canada def. Japan, 8-4
Korea def. Switzerland, 8-7
Sweden def. Italy, 7-3
Round robin session 11
The major story coming out of session 11 is Team USA. With a win over Switzerland, USA ensures their playoff hopes are alive while simultaneously putting the pressure on the Swiss team to win out if they want a shot themselves. Italy, too, gave USA an unintentional assist, killing Norway’s shot of reaching 5 wins.
USA def. Switzerland, 8-4
Italy def. Norway, 6-4
Japan def. Denmark, 6-4
