20. New York Knicks

The Knicks’ orange and blue colors are used about as well as they could be in their regular uniforms. They come together in a standard basketball uniform template, which is perfectly fine. Their issue is that those colors are the basic versions of blue and orange — not off colors, which can hurt originality. Teams like the Islanders, Pistons, Oilers and the Heat have similar problems.

For the most part, though, the Knicks do a fine job. Their Statement jersey is a nice-looking white fauxback. With the City edition, Nike hoped to support a local cause and use the Knicks’ platform to support heroes in the community. Very noble intentions, and they succeeded in doing  it: The jerseys weren’t overdone and didn’t come out gaudy like the Spurs’ camo.

But they aren’t really all that aesthetically pleasing. While the variation of the New York Fire Department logo used on the chest of the jersey serves its purpose, it does not work as a sports logo because there is so much going on with it. The rest of the design is well-executed despite this, and the gray and orange striping pattern on either side is a great subtle tribute.
