12. Denver Nuggets
Here, we feature the final “normal” alternate jersey. All of the best seven City editions do not function only as contrasting alts; they have superior designs, creativity and color schemes. In other words, they are great on their own merit, rather than partially because of their contrast to the regular set.
Denver’s City editions are solid. They place the fantastic pickaxe alternate logo on the front of a slick navy blue and yellow color, touching up the logo to add additional color. The gradient yellow on the shorts is a bit much, but it’s an overall positive.
The issue is their regular set. It’s fine, but it’s not good, and it is a clear downgrade from their previous uniforms, which used a white, yellow, light blue and navy color combination. That amount of colors, all of which fit very well together, gives you a lot of flexibility in design and contrast creating, and, as a bonus, Nike has the opportunity to use all four as base colors. They were set up for a great set.
But for whatever reason, light blue was almost completely eschewed from the palette. That is an inexplicable decision, and it lowered what could have been a high-quality set to purely average. This was the most underwhelming and disappointing set in the league.
