Kevin Ware appears ready to drop the hammer on Louisville
Louisville men’s basketball has big issues at the moment, and now former player Kevin Ware is ready to talk.
A scandal involving payments to a top recruit cost Rick Pitino his job as Louisville men’s basketball coach. An NCAA investigation involving strippers was set to threaten multiple records and accomplishments, including a 2013 national title, and on Tuesday it was announced that national title will indeed be vacated.
Kevin Ware was part of most of that national title run for the Cardinals, before suffering a gruesome leg injury in the Elite Eight against Duke. He would continue his college career at Georgia State in 2014-15, and that team made it to the NCAA Tournament. But Ware is absolutely best-remembered for his injury while playing for Louisville.
After news of the 2013 national title being vacated came out, Ware took to Twitter. He started with an affirmation of the title, which is common in these situations as players come with some variation of “hey, I was there, so I’ll always know it actually happened.”
But Ware then changed his tune, with a call to action toward the media suggesting he has a story to tell.
Prior to the above tweet calling for ESPN to sit down with him, Ware sub-tweeted a response to an open invitation to start a “30 for 30” film about Louisville athletics.
Ware clearly has something he wants to say about his experience at Louisville, probably starting with his recruitment and going right through to the national title season. Pitino would surely be prominent in anything Ware had to say, and whatever is left of the Hall of Fame coach’s reputation would be further sullied.

At this point Ware would just be piling on Louisville by talking to ESPN, via “Outside The Lines” or another show. But anything he can legitimately add to existing evidence could bring even more hits from the NCAA.
