Winter Olympics medal count update: Tuesday, February 20
By Mike Dyce
The latest medal winners have gotten their hardware and here is how the 2018 Winter Olympics medal count stands after Tuesday, February 20.
On Tuesday, Team USA grabbed another two medals. Maia and Alex Shibutani won bronze in figure skating ice dance. Brita Sigourney won bronze in the ladies’ ski halfpipe.
That moves Team USA’s medal count to 12, but they sit sixth place overall in the winter Olympics.
Germany swept Nordic Combined – Individual Gundersen LH/10km, walking away with all three medals. They’re still trailing Norway in the overall medal count. Germany has 23, six behind Norway.
They did pull level with Norway on gold medals with 11. Norway not only leads in total medals, they lead the medal count in each category (gold, silver and bronze).
Tuesday was one of the slower days for Norway, winning just a single medal, a silver in the women and men’s biathlon relay.
France, like Germany, had a big day adding three more medals to their total. France has surged up the medal count and sit ahead of the United States with 13 total medals. On Tuesday, France won a gold in a mixed biathlon relay, a silver in figure skating and a silver in ladies’ freestyle ski halfpipe.
