Marcus Thornton is signing a 10-day contract with the Cavaliers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to get younger with the addition of their latest piece to their complicated championship puzzle.

According to NBA god Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavaliers are offering Marcus Thornton a 10-day contract. It represents a huge step for Thornton, whose NBA dreams have yet to take root.

If you haven’t heard of Thornton, here is some historical context.

The pride of William & Mary, Thonton was drafted with the 45th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. He never played a second with the historic franchise, however, and he took his talents to the land down under, playing for the Sydney Kings.

After a stint in Australia, Thronton went to Italy and played for the Victoria Libertas Pesaro. He became a star overseas, but Thronton still had dreams of playing in the NBA, so to get recognized, he would need to come back to the states.

As fate would have it, the G-League (formally the NBA Development League), took notice of Thornton, and the Canton Charge brought him onboard. Thornton went all out to ball out in the G-League, posting averages of 18.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists, appearing in 37 games for Canton.

While Thornton was making a name for himself in Canton, the Cavs, who are affiliated with the Charge, were having major problems with their aging core, which was frustrating LeBron James, Ohio’s favorite son.

Next: It sure sounds like Kawhi Leonard won't be back this season.

The Cavs needed a change, and they made a swing for the bat at the trade deadline to get younger, and that youth movement continues with the signing of Thornton. Will he crack the rotation? We don’t know.

But Thornton is getting his chance to live out his NBA dream at last, and let us all hope that he will be able to stay on the roster.
