The Olympic Athletes from Russia had no issue against Norway, picking up a 6-1 victory in the quarterfinal of the Olympics men’s hockey tournament.

As expected, OAR walked into the medal round with ease, dispatching Norway in the quarterfinals of the Olympics men’s hockey tournament.

Norway got the first shot of the game. And that was about the only positive from Norway in the first 20 minutes. OAR went on to outshoot their opponents 19-2 in the first period, putting three pucks past Lars Haugen.

Mikhail Grigorenko opened the scoring, snapping a loose puck past the glove of Haugen at 8:54 into the game. A power play goal by Nikita Gusev and a nice shot by Vyacheslav Voinov made it 3-0 after one, ending this one before it really got going.

Haugen was pulled after the first period, mainly to save him from exhaustion. Henrik Haukeland was his replacement.

Norway did get on the board courtesy of qualifying round hero Alexander Bonsaksen. OAR goalie Vasili Koshechkin lost all focus as the puck went behind the net. By the time he figured out where it was, Bonsaksen was already mid-celebration.

Eighteen seconds later, Boksaksen took a high sticking penalty. It took OAR less than a minute to respond as Sergei Kalinin finished off a feed by Ilya Kovalchuk in front of the net to make it 4-1.

OAR would add one more in the third period, despite playing at half speed. Koshechkin finished with 13 saves.
