Italian outfit Roma will travel to Kharkiv, Ukraine to take on reigning Ukranian champions Shakhtar in a Champions League round of 16 tie this Wednesday.
Shakhtar are the home team after finishing second to Manchester City in Group F, edging out Napoli and Feyenoord for the final knockout spot in the group.
Roma won group B over Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Qarabag. They finished level on points with the blues but held the tiebreaker over the London club thanks to their 3-0 victory against them on match day four.
Shakhtar played their first game in two months this past Friday due to the winter break the Ukranian Premier League takes from early-December to mid-February. They won their first match back, beating Chornomorets 5-0, and will be hoping to carry that momentum into their matchup with Roma.
Roma have won their last three Serie A matches, beating Verona, Benevento and Udinese. They are currently third in Serie A but 15 points off second-place Juventus, and only two-points ahead of fourth placed Inter Milan who are desperate to beat them to the last Champions League spot.
Edin Dzeko and Stephan El Shaarawy are the clubs leading goalscorers this season, with 11 and five goals apiece. Ivan Ordets and Yaroslav Rakitskiy will be looking to keep them off the score sheet to avoid conceding any road goals. If they can help Shakhtar do that, maybe they can continue this impressive Champions League run.
