NFL Rumors: Broncos don’t plan on trading Emmanuel Sanders

The Denver Broncos are going through some changes this offseason, but it looks like losing Emmanuel Sanders isn’t going to be one of them.
The Denver Broncos finished last season with a record of 5-11 and finished last in the AFC West. The way things look right now they might be a couple more years away from getting back to Super Bowl form, but they’re going to need to find a quarterback for starters.
They have the cap space to bring in a guy like Kirk Cousins, or they could make trades for other guys like Nick Foles and Tyrod Taylor. The options are out there, but even if they bring someone in they’re going to need someone to throw to. The Broncos already plan to keep Demaryius Thomas, and it looks like they’re going to keep Emmanuel Sanders as well.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Broncos don’t intend to trade the veteran receiver despite his name popping up in trade rumors.
Sanders is coming off of a down year that saw him only play in 12 games due to injury. Even in the 12 games he played, he didn’t produce at the level he’s used to only finishing the season with 47 catches for 555 yards. It was his first non-1,000 yard season since he arrived in Denver in 2014.

The move to keep Sanders is a smart one by the Broncos front office because they don’t have much else to bargain with on the offensive side of the ball. They’re likely going to cut C.J. Anderson if they can’t find a trade partner, and their offensive line isn’t the greatest. If they want to convince a free agent quarterback to come there the only thing they have to sell offensively is Thomas and Sanders.
Sanders has a $10 million dollar cap hit this season so that would make things difficult to find a trade partner. The Broncos want to contend next year, and they’ll need Sanders to do that.
