The women’s 4x6km relay final took place early Thursday morning stateside in the Olympic biathlon. Here are the medal results.

The podium for the women’s 4×6 km relay final was full of upsets at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics. France, expected silver medalist, placed third, which was the least surprising part of it all. Belarus, who started in row 4 with a bib number of 10, won gold by a solid 10.7 seconds, while Sweden, starting in the preferred row 1 and a bib number of 3, placed second.

Belarus took the lead, passing Poland for the top spot, two kilometers into the final leg of the race and never gave it up. Other leaders throughout the relay included Finland, Slovakia, Italy and even the United States. In fact, Italy lead at various points in every leg except the last, so one can imagine their frustration with ultimately finishing in ninth.

Nadezhda Skardina, Iryna Kryuko, Dzinara Alimbekava and Darya Domracheva will all take home gold medals for Belarus.
