Winter Olympics medal count update: Thursday, February 22

The latest medal winners have gotten their hardware and here is how the 2018 Winter Olympics medal count stands after Thursday, February 22.
The United States continues to surge up the medal count, moving into sole possession of fourth place on Thursday. Team USA followed up Wednesday’s four medal performance with five medals on Thursday.
The highlight of the day was Team USA winning the gold medal in the women’s hockey tournament, defeating Canada in a thrilling overtime shootout performance.
The men dominated the freestyle ski halfpipe, David Wise winning gold and Alex Ferreira winning silver. Mikaela Shiffrin won silver in the women’s alpine combined. Jamie Anderson won a silver medal in the women’s big air, the first time the event took place at the Olympics.
Norway continues to dominate atop the medal count, with 35 overall medals, including the most in gold, silver and bronze. Thursday was relatively quiet for Norway, winning just one medal in nordic combined.
