Chiefs reportedly trading Marcus Peters to Rams
The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly in the final stages of trading Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams in a stunning move.
In one of the bigger bombshell deals we’ve seen in some time, the Kansas City Chiefs are apparently shipping All-Pro corner Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The return is not yet known.
Peters, 25, has played three seasons in Kansas City and been named a First-Team and Second-Team All-Pro along with making two Pro Bowl appearances. Since being drafted in the first round of the 2015 draft, Peters and the Chiefs have reached the playoffs each year, with two AFC West championships.
The Rams have an obvious need for Peters with Trumaine Johnson leaving via free agency this spring. Peters will slide in as the top corner on the team, playing in a secondary that could include safety LaMarcus Joyner, depending on his contract talks over the coming days.
As for the Chiefs, they lose a player who was the glue of their secondary alongside Eric Berry. General manager Brett Veach was able to acquire Kendall Fuller through the Alex Smith deal, apparently to replace and not play alongside Peters.

The Rams will have control of Peter this year and next, assuming they exercise the fifth-year option on his rookie deal. After that, the Rams could either sign Peters long-term or opt to place the franchise tag on him.
If the NFL offseason wasn’t already crazy enough, it certainly is after this blockbuster.
