Olympics live stream: Watch men’s speedskating mass start medal online
It’s time for the final speedskating event of the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics: the men’s mass start. Here’s how to watch online or by live stream.
The Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics are coming to a close and one of the last events is a brand new one: the speedskating mass start. After the women race in the morning — starting at 6 a.m. ET — the men take the rink starting at 6:45 a.m. for their own mass start competition. After two semifinals, the men’s mass start final will begin around 8 a.m. ET Saturday, Feb. 24.
South Korea’s Lee Seung-hoon is expected to take gold — and if he does, the crowd will go appropriately nuts — but American Joey Mantia, who holds the world record, is a favorite for silver. Adding to the drama, Dutch legend Sven Kramer is the pick for bronze, meaning those three podium spots could go any way.
NBC’s TV listings show that speedskating will not be on TV until midnight Saturday, so live stream and replay on the NBC Sports App is the way to go if you don’t want to wait. Given the early hours of events, live streams have been the way to go for speedskating fans. But the men’s mass start is at a relatively reasonable hour — especially if you only want to watch the final. So set an alarm, brew some coffee and cheer on American Mantia — the man who once described the mass start as NASCAR on ice.
