By John Buhler
Sweden wins the 4 x 7.5 km Men’s Relay of Olympic Biathlon, concluding the sport’s final event in Pyeongchang. Here are the results from the Men’s Relay.
We’ve done it! The 13th and final event of the Olympic Biathlon at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games is in the books. Sadly no, the United States was unable to take home a medal in the biathlon this year. However, America did do its best in the Men’s 4 x 7.5 km Relay, coming in sixth place.
Winning the gold in the men’s relay was Sweden with a time of 1 hour 15 minutes and 16.5 seconds. Team Sweden had only seven penalties, as that was key in their route to Olympic gold in the men’s 4 x 7.5 km relay. Only Sebastian Samuelsson had taken home a medal previously in Pyeongchang, as he earned a silver in the men’s 12.5 km pursuit. Everybody else on Team Sweden gets to take home a gold at the end of the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.
Coming in second was Team Norway, who absolutely dominated the Winter Olympics. Norway earned the silver medal with a time of 1 hour 16 minutes and 12.0 seconds. Team Norway had 13 penalties. Biathletes Johannes Thingnes Boe and Emil Hegle Svendsen had both previously earned in Pyeongchang.
Earning the bronze medal was Team Germany with a time of 1 hour 17 minutes and 23.6 seconds. Team Germany had 13 penalties in its third-place performance. Benedikt Doll, Arnd Peiffer and Simon Schempp had all won medals previously in the biathlon at Pyeongchang.
Here are the results for the men’s 4 x 7.5 km relay in the 2018 Winter Olympics.

To be fair, America wasn’t horrible in the relay events of the biathlon. It’s sixth place finish in the men’s 4 x 7.5 km relay was its best performance in Pyeongchang. America finished with a time of 1 hour 19 minutes and 6.7 seconds. The United States had 16 penalties. Unfortunately, the greatest American biathlon hero Lowell Bailey will not be earning a medal this year, or ever because he’s 36 years old. It’s a shame really, but this is the biathlon.
