Canada takes home bronze with 6-4 victory over Czech Republic in Olympic men’s hockey tournament.

The goals came fast and furious in the first and third periods between Canada and Czech Republic in the bronze medal game of the Olympics men’s hockey tournament. Canada just happened to have a little more Dominic Toretto.

Three goals took place in a 31-second span during the first period, starting with a redirect by Andrew Ebbett on the Canada power play. Martin Ruzicka answered by tipping a Roman Cervenka pass past Kevin Poulin. Chris Kelly finished the scoring flurry with a redirect of his own to make it 2-1 Canada.

Derek Roy pushed the lead to 3-1 at the end of the first period.

After a scoreless second period, Ebbett scored his second of the game, deflecting a centering feed past Pavel Francouz. The Czech team responded 46 seconds later with a goal by Jan Kover to make it 4-2. Three minutes later, Chris Kelly scored his second goal. Czech Republic responded again in less than a minute, but the goal was waved off due to goalie interference.

Wojtek Wolski made it 6-2 with less than five minutes remaining, but Cervenka answered with two goals in 1:29 to make it 6-4. Czech Republic didn’t fail to score in the final two minutes, it just ran out of time.

Czech goaltender Francouz, who had been fantastic all tournament, allowed six goals on 26 shots, picking a bad time to have his worst performance. Poulin made 29 saves in victory for Canada.

Canada had won goal in three of the last four Olympic Games. This is its first bronze since 1876.
