We’re one week closer to the NCAA Tournament. Here are five big games for this week with March Madness implications.
March Madness has come early to the NCAA. A season full of surprises and upsets on the court has gotten even crazier with the latest information from the FBI probe into college basketball. Arizona could likely find themselves without DeAndre Ayton, Allonzo Trier and head coach Sean Miller. Nineteen other programs have been implicated at some level due to findings from the seizure of information from former NBA agent Andy Miller’s office.
Even though the season may feel like it’s over for the Arizona Wildcats, there still are a few weeks left of conference play that will determine who does and doesn’t get into the NCAA Tournament. Some big name universities and marquee players are in the verge of missing out on the biggest event of the Spring.
Michael Porter Jr. was cleared to return, but we mentioned the potential of that happening in last week’s preview of games with tournament implications. This week’s headliner is his former AAU teammate, Trae Young. After getting off to a blazing hot start there’s a chance that Oklahoma could be left out of the NCAA Tournament altogether.
There are also a couple of high-level rivalry matchups on deck to finish off the year. This week also sees several of the conference tournaments getting underway and this upcoming Saturday will see the first slot filled for the 2018 NCAA Tournament. We’re getting closer and closer to the calendar turning to March. For all that we’ve seen so far, things are only going to get turned up to the next level when it becomes win or go home.
