Kirk Cousins to Vikings rumors are heating up
The Minnesota Vikings are in need of a quarterback, and rumors are flying that they want Kirk Cousins to be their next man under center.
Come March 12 at 4 p.m. ET, the tampering period of NFL free agency begins. At that moment, expect a million rumors to start flying around about Kirk Cousins, a 29-year-old quarterback who is about to cashing like nobody else in league history.
While there will be a half-dozen teams who want his services, it appears Cousins will. have a very serious suitor in Minnesota. The Vikings reached the NFC Championship Game last year, largely on the back of a great defense led by Harrison Smith, Xavier Rhodes and Everson Griffen. Now, with all three quarterbacks — Sam Bradford, Case Keenum and Teddy Bridgewater — expected to hit unrestricted free agency, general manager Rick Spielman is looking for the upgrade button.
Cousins would certainly be that over a trio fo signal-callers who all have their drawbacks. Bradford is always hurt, Bridgewater hasn’t played a meaningful snap in two years and Keenum is a journeyman who put together one memorable season.

Conversely, Cousins is coming off three consecutive campaigns of at least 4,000 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. There’s reason to believe that with the former Michigan State star in house, the Vikings would be able to field a top-tier offense. The receivers are already solid with Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen, while tight end Kyle Rudolph and second-year running back Dalvin Cook round out a hoard of capable weapons.
Cousins is likely to command somewhere around five years and $150 million with. $100 million in guaranteed money, both records. Minnesota, though, has the cap space with more than $49 million to play with, per Over The Cap.
