The trade details between the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs have finally been announced after a weekend full of guessing.
Last Friday the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams struck a deal. The Rams were going to receive talented, but troubled, corner Marcus Peters. No one knew what the Chiefs were going to be compensated. Adam Schefter of ESPN finally shared the details in a tweet Monday afternoon.
The Rams will be sending the Chiefs this years’ fourth round pick (estimated around pick No. 120) and next year’s second round pick. Peters and the Chiefs sixth round pick this year will head to Los Angeles.
March 14th officially kicks off the NFL’s new year. Kansas City must have been too eager to wait, as they’ve agreed to two trades already. This Peters trade, and the trade that sent Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins in exchange for Kendall Fuller will not be official until then.
At only 25 years old, this seems like a steal for the Rams in acquiring Peters. He is already one of the league’s most dominant corners. Peters plays one of the game’s most important positions, and he does so at an elite level. NFL Research points out in a tweet above that only future Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed has more interceptions in their first three seasons than Peters.
Kansas City decided that they have had enough with Peters off the field. Before his contract expires next offseason, the team took measures to get a return for the talented corner. Adam Teicher of ESPN broke down some of the reasons the Chiefs took this route.

It is hard to see the Chiefs acquiring a player of Peters caliber with either pick they receiver. Clearly this goes much deeper than the talent on the field.
