Maybe the key to stopping the Thinker and his unexplained but definitely evil plan is getting to the rest of the bus metas before he does.
Before The Flash went on a hiatus for a few weeks (one timed to the Winter Olympics, but surely that was just a coincidence … ), it gave us one heck of a twist to ponder. The Thinker was able to kill off a bunch of the so-called bus metas, who seemed integral to his plan, while transferring his consciousness into another body and seemingly retaining all the powers he acquired so far.
Fortunately, Barry Allen also had his name cleared and can go back to fighting crime full time. It’s just that he immediately realized that the bus metas were even more important than they originally suspected, an idea that could come into play as soon as this week’s new episode, “Subject 9.”
We have a feeling the title refers to yet another one of the bus metas, one we haven’t met yet. It could be a race to see who gets to her first, and fortunately, no one beats the Flash in a race.
Here’s the official synopsis for “Subject 9,” courtesy of ComingSoon.net:
"RALPH FEARS FOR HIS LIFE – Barry (Grant Gustin) meets a powerful woman whose abilities could help him in his battle with DeVoe (guest star Sugar Lyn Beard). Meanwhile, after learning that DeVoe is targeting everyone who was on the bus, Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) decides he doesn’t want to be a hero anymore, his only concern is staying alive. Harry (Tom Cavanagh) offers to help Joe (Jesse L. Martin)."
Ah yeah, good old Ralph. Just when it appears he has turned the corner on his looking out for No. 1 ways, something happens to make him reconsider. We dig it, though. Becoming a true hero when it’s not 100 percent in your nature to be selfless shouldn’t be an easy transitions, and The Flash writers have given the Elongated Man plenty of ups and downs this season that ring true.

We’re just glad the show is back with new episodes, as we’re excited to see what happens down the stretch (no Dibny puns intended). Be sure to tune in Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. for “Subject 9,” then race back here for our full recap and review.
