Minnesota Vikings free agency 2018: Top 5 targets
2. Sam Bradford
The best option on this list makes a lot more sense to stay in purple and gold under center, but the Vikings could save a lot of money by going with Sam Bradford for the future of their franchise.
At 30 years old, Bradford still has enough left in the tank to sign with a team and contribute for years to come. He was solid before his injury derailed his season in 2017, and Case Keenum ended up taking over and bringing the Vikings all the way to the NFC Championship game. With that in mind, it’d make sense for the Vikings to stick with Keenum in the huddle, but money may play a factor.
Just like any free agent, a good season will usually bring you a nice, hefty contract for the next 12 months. In this case (no pun intended), Keenum has all the momentum in his corner, and can use some serious leverage in any negotiations this offseason.
Meanwhile, Bradford won’t get a ton of attention coming off an injury, and has proven he can succeed under center when given a chance in Minnesota. Bradford makes more sense than Teddy Bridgewater as far as a return to the Vikings’ huddle is concerned, and it likely won’t require as much money as Keenum would.
Bradford definitely ranks second out of the three quarterback options for the Vikings, but it’s a nice, happy medium for the team to use if they don’t want to break the bank this spring.
