Stanford football coach Ross Jirgl was caught in an embarrassing position on Monday’s episode of The Bachelor when he tried to win back his ex only to be humiliated on national TV.

Stanford has been a part of a few rose ceremonies recently with a few Rose Bowl appearances, but one Cardinal coach wanted to be a part of another rose ceremony and crashed The Bachelor on Monday night.

If you don’t watch the reality dating competition where two dozen single women compete for the attention and love of one bachelor, you missed a shutdown of epic proportions when Ross Jirgi tried to win back his ex.

Ross Jirgl spent the last season as Stanford’s sports performance coach where he saw Bryce Love run up and down the field. It’s understandable that he’d want to chase his old love, Becca Kufrin, who is one of the three remaining contestants vying for the heart of Arie Luyendyk Jr.

She mentioned earlier in Monday night’s episode on ABC that she broke off a seven-year relationship before coming on the show. That’s just great work by the producers of the reality TV show to set up viewers with a plot twist everyone could see coming.

After Becca and Arie spent the night together in the fantasy suite, Ross crashed the party, a growing theme on these shows where an ex tries to win back their love on national TV. Ross confronts Arie and tells him that he should be the one that gets down on bended knee and asks for Becca’s hand in marriage, not the son of an Indy 500 winner!

Of course, Arie had no time for that, but then Ross knocked on Becca’s door, and surprise!!! We have some awkward television. Becca looked like she saw a ghost but collected herself and told Ross that this is real life and not The Notebook and he had to walk away with his tail tucked between his legs.

That’s a big L for Ross to take, and he’s going to be subjected to so much taunting and teasing, including from the Cardinal football players and his fellow coaches. Maybe we’ll see him join the cast of The Bachelorette or he’ll make another run at winning back Becca’s heart without the cameras on him.
