In the latest confirmation you’re old, Wyoming signs Raghib Ismail Jr.
If you needed another sign you’re old, Wyoming has secured a JUCO transfer named Raghib Ismail Jr.
From 1988-1990, there was no more exciting player in college football than Notre Dame wide receiver/kick returner Raghib “Rocket” Ismail. He returned five kickoffs and one punt for a touchdown over that span, helping the Fighting Irish to a 12-0 record and a national title in 1988 and finishing as the Heisman Trophy runner-up in 1990.
When the sons of players you remember start to surface in college and pro sports, it’s a sure sign you’re getting old. One of the latest examples is here now, as Wyoming and head coach Craig Bohl announced the signing of wide receiver Raghib Ismail Jr. a few days ago.
Ismail Jr. originally committed to TCU out of high school in Carrollton, Texas, as a member of the 2015 class. But he transferred and spent the 2017 season at Cisco Junior College (Texas), tallying 48 receptions for 434 yards and four touchdowns.
Bohl spoke highly of the younger “Rocket.”
"Rocket (Ismail) is a young man who brings great speed and athleticism to the wide receiver position,” Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl said in a statement. “He does a lot after the catch with the ball in his hands. He catches the ball extremely well, catches it away from his body, and will bring great value to the wide receiver room."
The elder Ismail started his pro football career, by choice, in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts. But he later spent nine seasons (1993-2001) in the NFL with the Raiders, Panthers and Cowboys, highlighted by back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons in 1998 with the Panthers and 1999 with the Cowboys.

It’s safe to say Ismail Jr. is not the dynamic talent his father was nearly 30 years ago. But he may create a reason to keep an eye on Wyoming football next season with Josh Allen gone to the NFL.
