2018 NFL Mock Draft: Jets fly high with Baker Mayfield
By Brad Weiss
The Buffalo Bills made the playoffs for the first time since 1999 last season, though they were quickly bounced in the Wild Card Round. Still, it appears they made the right decision by bringing in Sean McDermott to be their head coach, even though he made a questionable quarterback decision during the year. Rookie cornerback Tre’Davious White played very well in year one, and the Bills defense was much better than advertised.
With their first of two first round picks, the Bills should focus on the defense line. The team shipped Marcel Dareus to the Jacksonville Jaguars during last season, and his production in the interior needs to be addressed. One player who could address the position is Da’Ron Payne, who has played a key role in the Alabama Crimson Tide’s last two national titles.
Payne is the kind of player who can really clog up the middle of the defense, and he has incredible feet for someone his size. He also is a very smart player, and has really grown during his time on campus. The Bills need to make sure they keep adding talent to their defense, so picking Payne at No. 21 is a very smart move at this point.
