As we enter conference tournament season, the time of year when prospects really make a name for themselves is fully upon us, a potential which we will explore in this latest edition of our 2018 NBA mock draft.

The order for this mock draft is based upon 538’s CARM-Elo projections as of Feb. 28. For each pick, team needs are taken into consideration, as well as fit.

. F. Gonzaga. Killian Tillie. 30. player. 125

The Hawks will always ask their big men to shoot. We’ve seen it this season with Dewayne Dedmon and John Collins, two guys who even five seasons ago would never have been asked by any NBA team to shoot 3s. Tillie doesn’t need to be asked.

He has made 43 percent of his 99 3-point attempts at Gonzaga, becoming an elite pick-and-pop weapon as his role has increased. In addition to his deep-ball proficiency, Tillie is a 77 percent free-throw shooter who can move his feet on both ends surprisingly well. He knows where to be to get open on offense, and can attack overly aggressive defense on the perimeter.

The Hawks aren’t in a position to be worrying about how to hide a stretch-4 on defense, but Tillie has the agility to one day survive on that end defending bigger players. Maybe Hawks U has moved from the wing to the frontcourt.
