The Miami Heat look to fine-tune their game against the lowly Phoenix Suns.

If ever the Miami Heat needed an easy game, the NBA Gods may have looked to have some mercy on them.

The Heat are in a fight for their playoff lives, even though that tussle has gotten a bit easier thanks to the sudden implosion of the Detroit Pistons, their closest contender for the eight and final spot to the NBA Playoff dance.

They haven’t taken advantage of the Pistons new-found misfortune, however. In their last 10 games, Miami is just 4-6, and their defense, once a source of pride, has tailed off dramatically during this unlucky stretch.

In their previous 10 games, the Heat have allowed over 100 points seven times, including giving up a season-high 131 points to the resurgent Los Angeles Lakers. They did rebound on the defensive end by holding the struggling Pistons to 96 points in the Saturday home win, but if Miami dreams to be a threat in the playoffs, they have to get back to what made them one of the darlings in the East.

That’s what makes their game against the lowly Phoenix Suns so welcoming.

This is the type of game where Miami can fix its problems, as the Suns have become the perfect punching bag for opponents.

While the Suns are having yet another lottery year, however, the future doesn’t look too bleak in the Valley of the Sun. They may have found a future trio in Devin Booker, Elfrid Payton, and TJ Warren (granted if any of them want to stay in Phoenix), and the Suns showed that they can hang tough in close games.

While they came with a baseline jumper of beating equally lowly Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, this game doesn’t figure to be close.

Unless the Heat decide to put their game on cruise control.
