Alfred Morris rumors: Top 3 landing spots
Alfred Morris broke onto the scene with the Washington Redskins in 2012, but has fallen off somewhat in the years since. Still, Morris remains a nice option.
As a rookie with the Redskins in 2012, Morris broke the franchise record for single-season rushing yards with 1,613 yards to go with 13 touchdowns. In the following two years, Washington watched as Morris posted a pair of 1,000-yard seasons.
In 2015, the wheels began to fall off a bit. After rushing for only 751 yards in 16 games, the Redskins let Morris walk in free agency, going to the Dallas Cowboys. In Dallas, the former sixth-round selection amassed 790 yards over two seasons. Last year, Morris showed some new life, gaining 4.8 yards per carry.
Best fits
1. Miami Dolphins
Morris is a Florida native, and in this case, going home is a nice choice. The Dolphins have a clear need at running back, with no obvious top option. Following the midseason trade of Jay Ajayi, Miami has to give Ryan Tannehill (or another quarterback) some support. Morris 29 years old, so a short-term, low-cost deal would work for the cap-strapped Dolphins.
2. Houston Texans
Houston needs a running mate for Lamar Miller, and Morris would be a great compliment. At this juncture, Morris isn’t built for 15-20 carries per game, but half that workload would be solid. The Texans should be planning to go deep into the playoffs next fall, with Deshaun Watson and DeAndrre Hopkins leading the offense.

3. Arizona Cardinals
Arizona has its star running back in David Johnson, but needs a veteran who can help unburden the youngster. The Cardinals might be in a rebuild in 2018, and Morris fits as a short-term investment. There’s also reason to believe that Morris could help as a third-down and short-yardage back.
