Flyers vs. Penguins live stream: Watch online
The Pittsburgh Penguins travel to face their interstate rivals ,the Philadelphia Flyers, on Wednesday.
If the season ended today, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers would play each other in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
This is one of hockey’s few remaining rivalries. Their matchups in the playoffs during the early part of this decade were truly unforgettable; they were high scoring with even higher intensity. Tonight is a potential preview of what could be one of the most exciting first-round matchups of the year.
Here is everything you need to know to watch tonight’s rivalry game between the Penguins and the Flyers:
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers
Date: Wednesday, Mar. 7
Location: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia
Time: 8:00 p.m. ET
TV: NBCSN, TVAS
Live Stream: Fubo.TV
When the schedule comes out every year, Flyers and Penguins fans look for this matchup. It is one of the hottest tickets in town. The Penguins now lead the season series 2-0 with wins in November and January. The Flyers have a chance to even the series with a win tonight and a win on March 25.
The Flyers made a big splash at the deadline when they traded for goaltender Petr Mrazek from the Detroit Red Wings. Philadelphia was in the middle of the playoff hunt when both its goalies, Brian Elliot and Michal Neuvirth, went down with injuries, triggering the trade.
Since arriving in Philadelphia, Mrazek started well, winning his first three games. But he has since hit a rough patch, losing the last three games. The Flyers will need Mrazek to snap out of his rough patch to stop the talented Penguins offense.
The Penguins are chasing down the Washington Capitals for first place in the Metropolitan division. Once again, the Penguins will be relying on their high-powered offense through the playoffs.
It is tough to find a team with better centers; Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Derick Brassard are elite and tough to match up against. Adding offensive talent like Jake Guentzel and Phil Kessel creates a dynamic lineup that is hard to stop. There are issues on defense, but head coach Mike Sullivan is hoping the offense and goaltender Matt Murray can cover those issues up.
