The Cincinnati Bengals once had a star in Jeremy Hill, but things went downhill quickly. Can he recapture his magic at another stop?

Jeremy Hill was a second-round pick out of LSU in 2014, and his rookie season had people believing he would be a star. After gaining 1,124 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, Hill was primed for a huge career in Cincinnati. Unfortunately, things didn’t pan out.

Hill hasn’t been a factor since 2016, when he gained 839 yards and nine touchdowns on 3.8 yards per carry. Last season, Hill fell out of favor with the Bengals, only getting 37 carries as Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard got the bulk of the work. Frankly, the decision is questionable, considering Mixon was awful, and the Bengals finished 31st in team rushing.

Best fits

1. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens found some success with Alex Collins, but he could use some help alongside him. Collins would be the lead back in this scenario, allowing Hill to come in and caddy for 10-12 carries per season. After basically taking the season off, Hill should be fresh in 2018.

2. New York Giants

If New York is going to overhaul the roster, it could do far worse than a 25-year-old running back coming off a down season. Hill has issues with fumbling (eight total, five lost) but he’s a power back that would play to the Giants’ fanbase. New York desperately needs some punch in the backfield, and Hill can provide that.

3. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts did the right thing by getting rid of Frank Gore, despite him being one of the league’s all-time great backs. Gore is ancient, and Indianapolis has to get younger. If the Colts can select Saquon Barkley with the third-overall pick, Hill becomes the perfect Robin to Barkley’s Batman.
