LeGarrette Blount rumors: Top 3 landing spots
After winning a pair of Super Bowls over the last two seasons, LeGarrette Blount will be looking to win a third ring with another team.
LeGarrette Blount has been consistently overlooked throughout his career… until the Super Bowl. Blount is the only running back this decade to win a pair of rings, doing so with the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles respectively over the past two seasons.
Statistically, Blount is a solid if not spectacular back. The 31-year-old has a pair of 1,000-yard seasons, including 2016 in New England. Last year, Blount carried 173 times for 766 yards, giving him 4.4 yards per attempt. The Eagles would love to re-sign him, but considering their cap situation, that’s a pipe dream.
Best fits
1. Carolina Panthers
Carolina released Jonathan Stewart, giving it a spot that Blount would step into nicely. The Panthers have Christian McCaffrey in the backfield, but his slight build could be a problem in those short-yardage and goal line situations. A red zone offense featuring Cam Newton, Blount and McCaffrey would be a dangerous combination.
2. New York Jets
New York is trying to get off the proverbial mat, and a veteran like Blount could help that cause. The Jets watched Matt Forte retire this offseason, creating a spot for a low-cost, high-impact veteran. General manager Mike Maccagnan should be looking for a younger option to be the bellcow, but Blount could be a nice fit in Gotham.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars already have Leonard Fournette to provide the thunder in Duval County, but he was banged up at times last year. A nice way to offset that workload would be to give Blount a few of those touches per game, all while replacing Chris Ivory. Jacksonville should be thinking about Fournette as a long-term investment, and getting Blount would be helpful in that regard.
