NaVorro Bowman rumors: 3 best fits
After a successful campaign with the Oakland Raiders, former All-Pro inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman is hitting free agency at the right time.
NaVorro Bowman was once one of the greatest players in the NFL. Then, the former Penn State star tore his ACL in a gruesome injury before popping his Achilles in 2016. For all intents and purposes, it appeared his career was over.
In 2017, Bowman was deal after five games to the Oakland Raiders, and the veteran was able to have somewhat of a renaissance. The 29-year-old logged a total of 127 tackles, his best number since 2015. Hitting free agency for the first time, Bowman should have a substantial market considering his recent production and name value.
Best fits
1. Oakland Raiders
Oakland needs more good defensive players, not less. The Raiders already have issues all over the field on that side of the ball, and Bowman is one of the few solutions already in place. General manager Reggie McKenzie should be willing to sign Bowman for a decent term, albeit structuring the contract to give the team flexibility.
2. New York Jets
The Jets are in the midst of a rebuild, and while youth will be served in Gotham, some veteran leadership would go a long way. Bowman is only 29 years old, and he remains a solid contributor who can bring along the younger talent such as Darron Lee and Jamal Adams. Head coach Todd Bowles is also a defensive mind, making this a nice fit.

3. Washington Redskins
Washington has to add some more talent on both sides of the football, and Bowman makes plenty of sense. The Redskins are slated to lose Trent Murphy and Junior Galette in free agency, shaking up what is already an average front seven. Bowman is a phenomenal tackler and while the athleticism isn’t what it once was, he remains a plus player.
