Seattle Seahawks free agency 2018: Top 5 targets
1. Malcolm Butler
After news broke that Richard Sherman was sending text messages to his teammates saying goodbye ahead of the true beginning of this offseason, football fans all over the place screamed from rooftops about the death of the Legion of Boom. However, what if they can build a new one?
Sure, Sherman is/was a key part of the Legion in Seattle, and they’re on the verge of losing a few other big news in their secondary as well. Rumors are swirling around about Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, and it looks like we may be in for a new era when it comes to the Seahawks defense.
The best way to usher in a new era for a defense is to bring in some young talent to effectively push out the old names. In this case, one of the best bets for the Seahawks to go after is a player that ruined their Super Bowl XLIX comeback attempt: Malcolm Butler.

Butler has a lot of buzz around him this offseason after getting benched in Super Bowl 52 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but it may have actually helped his stock somehow. Teams know how important Butler is now to a team’s defense, and he could’ve/would’ve helped the New England Patriots beat the Eagles last month.
Butler may be expensive, but he’s shown over the last two years that he can play at a high level when it’s really needed. Now, ironically, the hero that saved the Patriots against the Seahawks a few years ago could help save the Seahawks defense in 2018.
