Genoa have used a strong run of play to move out of the relegation zone and now sit nine points above the drop. On Sunday, Genoa host AC Milan at Luigi Ferraris Stadium. Milan have completely turned their season around since Gennaro Gattuso took over as manager. After dropping as low as 11th, Milan are now tied for sixth in Serie A with 44 points.
At the end of November, Genoa were in the relegation zone. Since then, The Red and Blues have won three of their last four games and picked up 20 points in their last 12 games to improve to 13th in Serie A. Despite moving up the table, only two clubs have scored fewer goals than Genoa, with no player scoring more than three goals. Despite struggling offensively, the Red and Blues have allowed the fifth fewest goals in Serie A this season.
AC Milan have picked up points in eight straight games, winning six of their last seven games. Since Gattuso took over at the end of November, Milan have picked up 24 points in 12 games. Defensively, Milan have significantly better since Gattuso decided to switch from a three-man backline to four. Leonardo Bonucci’s play has improved as he finally looks comfortable with his new club. Milan’s attack has better since shifting Hakan Calhanoglu forward and started playing him at left-wing. Suso and Patrick Cutrone are tied for the team lead with six goals.
