WWE Fastlane 2018: Full match results from the last PPV before WrestleMania
By Nick Tylwalk
Make sure you keep up with the final PPV before WrestleMania with our full match results and highlights from Fastlane.
It’s tough to be the final big show before WrestleMania, but WWE Fastlane will try to give fans a show to remember anyway. The last SmackDown-only PPV (for now, anyway) will culminate in a huge Six-Pack Challenge for the WWE Championship, meaning AJ Styles may not go to WrestleMania with the belt and Shinsuke Nakamura could be facing someone else in New Orleans (wink, wink).
Speaking of Nakamura, he’ll battle one of the more unexpectedly over superstars on the SmackDown roster when he steps in against Rusev. The card also features multiple title matches besides the main event, including another showdown between The Usos and the New Day for the tag team titles and Bobby Roode defending his United States Championship against Randy Orton.
Fastlane 2018 Kickoff Show: Tye Dillinger and Breezango def. Mojo Rawley, Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable by pinfall
Dillinger, kind of a deputy of sorts to the Fashion Police, grabbed a win by hitting the Perfect 10.
Shinsuke Nakamura def. Rusev by pinfall
Nakamura got a stern test in his final PPV match before WrestleMania. He needed to kick out of several dangerous near falls before securing the victory, which he did with the Kinshasa.
Randy Orton def. Bobby Roode by pinfall to win the United States Championship
Orton made no bones about the fact that he wanted to win the U.S. title since he had never done so before, and he pulled it off with … what else … an RKO out of nowhere. After the match, Jinder Mahal came to the ring and tried to start something with the new champ, but Roode grabbed Mahal and hit him with a Glorious DDT. He gave one to Orton as well before finally walking to the back.
Carmella and Natalya def. Naomi and Becky Lynch by pinfall
With Natalya using the Money in the Bank briefcase as a bit of a distraction on the apron, Carmella hit a superkick to Becky to get the three count.
The New Day (challengers) and The Usos (champions) fought to a no contest in a SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
The Usos retained their belts, but without a victory as the Bludgeon Brothers came down and proceeded to decimate both teams.
Charlotte Flair def. Ruby Riott by submission to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship
Despite some attempted interference by the other members of the Riott Squad, Charlotte outlasted Riott and eventually got her to tap out to the Figure Eight. After the bell, Asuka made an appearance, saying nothing but pointing to the WrestleMania sign to insinuate that she’s challenging Flair for her belt next month.
AJ Styles def. Kevin Owens, John Cena, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler in a Six-Pack Challenge to retain his WWE Championship by pinning Owens
Despite going through one of the announce tables earlier in the match, Styles proved to be in the right place at the right time. A second after Owens hit Cena with a Popup Powerbomb, Styles flew in with a Phenomenal Forearm that kept KO down for the three count.
