When does the 2018 NCAA women’s basketball tournament start?

Conference Championship Week has come to a close and it’s time for the 2018 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. We have all the details right here.

March Madness is here and it’s time to get the 2018 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament underway. After playing hard all season, it’s time for the Big Dance. 32 teams already know they’re dancing after punching their tickets at conference championship games while other teams wait to see if they will be heading to the tournament with at-large bids based on their records and strength of schedule. The bubble teams will anxiously await news of their dancing prospects as the teams are named during the Selection Show.

The action officially begins with the Selection Show on Monday, March 12. This is when the teams find out where they’re going for the First and Second Rounds. The Selection Show starts at 7pm ET on ESPN.

The First and Second Round action begins on March 16, with games played March 16-19 at sixteen sites around the country. From there, the field of 16 teams will be set in time for regionals.

Regional action continues March 23-26 with the Sweet Sixteen and the Elite Eight. The four sites for Regional are Lexington, Kentucky (Rupp Arena), Kansas City, Missouri (Sprint Center), Albany, New York (Times Union Center), and Spokane, Washington (Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena).

The 2018 Final Four takes place March 30 and April 1 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Once the final two teams have emerged, they will meet at the National Championship Game on Sunday, April 1 at 6pm ET.

Of the teams that have already punched their tickets to the Big Dance, undefeated UConn looks to return to the National Championship Game and reclaim the title after Mississippi State beat them in 2017, ending their 111-game win streak. UConn has returned to its undefeated ways in the 2017-2018 season has its sights set on the national title.
