Saturday, Mar. 17: Detroit at Portland, 10:00 p.m. ET

Earlier this season, the Pistons cruised past Portland en route to their third-straight win since acquiring Blake Griffin. It was the first time since the trade the Pistons didn’t need a superhuman effort from Griffin either — he finished with 21 points on 21 shots.

Now, the Pistons are in freefall. A trade for Griffin that shipped off Tobias Harris and Avery Bradley and, as of now, a lottery pick could have set the franchise back. Since a four-game win streak to open up February, the Pistons are 3-10. They’re five games back of the eighth-seeded Milwaukee Bucks and, unless they make a run and the Bucks fall off, Detroit is going to miss the playoffs. Perhaps their best move is to trade Andre Drummond and try to fix the mess they made.

Few things are as brutal as making a blockbuster trade in hopes of simply making the playoffs and having it fall short. I feel for Pistons fans.
