13. Philadelphia Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers are holding on to the last playoff spot in the Metropolitan Division from the New Jersey Devils. Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek are once again leading the Flyers in points. The Flyers have had remarkable success with their young defensemen like Ivan Provorov and Shayne Gostisbehere. The Flyers ran into trouble with their goaltending. Both Flyers goalies at the start of the season were playing well but were injured. The Flyers then had to trade for Petr Mrazek from the Detroit Red Wings. Mrazek has filled in well for the Flyers but when the other two goalies come back from injury it will be interesting to watch their rotation.
The Flyers are coming off a bad week of games. They lost three of four including one to their main rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The other losses all came to teams in the Eastern Conference: the Florida Panthers and the Boston Bruins. Their lone win came when they beat the Winnipeg Jets. The Flyers will need to bounce back strong this week. They have three tough games against the Vegas Golden Knights, Columbus Blue Jackets and the Carolina Hurricanes. Wins are needed against the Blue Jackets and Carolina to keep pace in the Eastern Conference playoff chase.
