The Detroit Lions have a lot of work to do this offseason, especially after the defense lost Haloti Ngata this week. If the Lions are to contend in the NFC North, they have to get a better pass rush, and they should spend the No. 20 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft on a solid edge rusher. A player like Marcus Davenport could be available this late in round one, and he would be a nice grab for new head coach Matt Patricia.
Patricia came over to the Lions from the New England Patriots, where he was the teamās defensive coordinator. It would make sense for his first selection as head coach of the Lions to be a defensive player, and Davenport has the skill set to be a star in Detroit. He has one of the quickest first steps in this draft class, and is the kind of player who could make a living getting after the quarterback.
Aaron Rodgers will be back for Green Bay next season, and it looks like Kirk Cousins is going to be signing with Minnesota. Add to the fact that the Bears have been very active in free agency already, and this division is certain to be a good one in 2018. The Lions have to get better on defense, and with a defensive-minded coach, the unit could actually be a strength next season.
