The Buffalo Bills will pick at No. 22 overall as well in April, as they traded their No. 21 pick to the Cincinnati Bengals in the Glenn trade. While they are expected to grab a quarterback with their higher pick, the plan could be to select an offensive lineman with this selection. Will Hernandez from UTEP is one of the best offensive guards in this draft class, and he should hear his name called in the first round.
Last year, the Bills made the playoffs for the first time since 1999, and the plan is not to stop there. Head coach Sean McDermott had his bumps along the way in year one, but he responded to lead this team late. The offense needs bodies up front, and while Hernandez will not replace a guy like Glenn at the tackle position, he is going to be a starting guard in year one at the next level.
Buffalo should be back in the playoffs next season, but they will be hard-pressed to win games if they do not get better up front. Hernandez can help them do that, and with a new quarterback under center, the Bills will likely be a Wild Card team again. McDermott has this team steering in the right direction, and now they must utilize their assets and put together a solid offseason.
