3. Chicago Bears sign WR Allen Robinson

Giving a receiver with one great season $14 million coming off an ACL tear may seem like a risk,  but not when it’s a 24-year-old with the incredible physical gifts in the body of Allen Robinson.

Chicago’s horde of cap space softens the risk and the upside could be as high as any player in this free agency class. The Bears desperately needed to give Mitch Trubisky some help and after adding A-Rob and Trey Burton, clearly Ryan Pace accomplished that goal.

Robinson immediately becomes WR1 in the Windy City, which could end up having a solid group of skill players assuming Kevin White ever plays NFL games and Cameron Meredith gets back healthy. Add in Jordan Howard, Tarik Cohen, Adam Shaheen and Burton, this offense now has a bevy of players to run Matt Nagy’s offense and give Trubisky weapons in his arsenal.

It’s a risk, but a worthy one for team with money to spend. The possibility of adding a Pro Bowl receiver this young with this much talent is a win at nearly any price and the Bears got a reasonable deal considering how much clearly lesser talents got this week.
