The Champions League quarterfinal draw takes place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday, March 16. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Eight clubs have punched their way through to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. After a rigorous group stage and round of 16, Juventus, Manchester City, Liverpool, Sevilla, Real Madrid, Roma, Bayern Munich and Barcelona earned the right to fight for a semifinal match.
Juventus beat Tottenham 4-3 on aggregate after a feisty two goal comeback at home in the second leg. Manchester City make light work of Basel 5-2 after two legs, as did Liverpool with Porto and Bayern with Besiktas. Sevilla stunned Manchester United by beating the Red Devils at Old Trafford 2-1 to earn their first quarterfinal appearance in 60 years. Roma snuck past Shakhtar on an away goal scored in the first leg and Barcelona eased past Chelsea with a 3-0 win in the second leg.
In the quarterfinal draw, clubs are chosen at random to face off against each other. Therefore, teams from the same country can end up battling for a spot in the semis. Sevilla and Roma are the two that every other manager hopes to be drawn with, as they’re considerably weaker, at least on paper, than the rest.
