Danny Boyle confirms: he is directing Bond 25!
By David Pegram
It is official. After weeks of speculation, Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle will be directing the next James Bond film, Daniel Craig’s finale. “We are working on a script right now,” Boyle revealed at the premiere of his FX series, Trust.
Boyle’s name first came up via rumor mill, though Daily Mail columnist (and Bond follower) Baz Bamigboye also dropped hints that it was indeed Boyle who was on board to direct. No matter that Boyle also hopped on to another project with Love Actually screenwriter Richard Curtis, due to begin filming in two months.
Though EON Productions initially tapped Neal Purvis and Robert Wade to write Bond 25, Boyle has brought in longtime collaborator John Hodge to write the script, instead. Boyle and Hodge worked together on Trainspotting and A Life Less Ordinary, among others. He told Metro U.S.,

And it all depends on how it turns out. It would be foolish of me to give any of it away.”"
Whatever Boyle and Hodge had pitched must have been met with approval from Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, as well as Daniel Craig.
Boyle has already worked with Craig on a Bond film…in a sense. Boyle directed Craig in the short film Happy and Glorious in which Craig (as Bond) meets the queen and accompanies her on a skydiving entrance to the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Olympic games.
Filming on Bond 25 is expected to begin at the end of the year, with a November 2019 release.
