NFL Rumors: Terrelle Pryor getting interest from multiple teams
Terrelle Pryor is the best of what’s left among free agent wide receivers, and a few teams have interest.
The free agent market for wide receivers has been pretty good, with Allen Robinson, Sammy Watkins, Paul Richardson and even Ryan Grant getting nice new contracts. Terrelle Pryor remains available, but Michael Silver of NFL Network reported the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns are among the teams with interest.
Pryor had 77 catches for over 1,000 yards for the Browns in 2016, and signed a one-year deal with the Washington Redskins last offseason. But an upgrade in quarterback to Kirk Cousins did not bring big numbers, as Pryor finished with just 20 catches for 240 yards and one touchdown over nine games before an ankle issue ended his season.
The Browns don’t seem to have room for Pryor, with the acquisition of Jarvis Landry to go along with Corey Coleman and Josh Gordon. But the Rams lost Watkins and are set to cut Tavon Austin, which would leave they unproven Mike Thomas, Josh Reynolds and Pharoh Cooper as the leading candidates to step into a bigger role. The 49ers are adding weapons around Jimmy Garoppolo, with the salary cap space to still get anyone they want.
Pryor is entering just his third season as a full-time wide receiver. What he was able to do in his first season making that complete conversion, with the collection of quarterbacks the Browns offered, points to upside that still exists. The right coaching staff that can think beyond the surface, such as the ones in Los Angeles and San Francisco, will see the potential of a big, fast athlete who may only need to avoid last year’s nagging injury to unlock that upside.

For any number of reasons, Pryor is not the first player to not quite reach his full potential with the Redskins. A better overall situation can be had pretty much anywhere else, and Pryor should not lack for suitors as the top wide receiver available.
