7. player. 79. . F. Missouri. Michael Porter Jr.

Porter is coming off a performance in which he had five more shots than points during a loss to Georgia in the SEC tournament. He has quite a bit to prove before even the Mavericks, bereft of young talent and picking in the middle of the lottery, would feel great pulling the trigger.

While Porter showed little in his first full game with Missouri, one thing we can feel confident about going forward is Porter’s three-level scoring ability. Against Georgia, Porter found easy shots in a variety of ways. Whether the freshman was cutting down the lane, pulling up from 3, or creating in isolation, the advantages he can create became clear instantly.

Especially in isolation, Porter has the physical advantages that have allowed players like Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Durant to sustain careers. He is the size of a center, with the agility of a shooting guard. There’s not much time to put all that together, but Porter will try during this tournament to prove he’s healthy and productive.

Dallas has nothing for the future besides Dennis Smith Jr. Porter adds one more.
