2018 NBA Mock Draft: Enter the madness

Orlando is building a versatile team in the background of their failure.

In a disastrous stroke of lucklessness, the Magic may only have Jonathan Isaac to show for their post-Dwight Howard rebuild. And we haven’t even seen much out of Isaac, who missed most of the season with injury. They have a decision to make on Aaron Gordon this summer, but even if it’s Isaac and this year’s pick, the Orlando front office should consider it an opportunity to paint on a blank canvas.

The team is also dotted with valuable, versatile role players such as Kehm Birch and Jonathon Simmons who can be positive contributors on the type of team that Isaac would logically lead. They are long, athletic and energetic, able to play in the types of wonky lineups Isaac makes possible with his own length and unicornish skill set.

Now, imagine Isaac next to Bamba and Simmons. With really any serviceable point guard in place and a shooter at the other guard spot, the potential is exciting. Bamba projects as the anchor of a great defense, something few in the 2018 draft can claim.
