DraftKings European League Basketball Picks March 16

More from DraftKings

The Euro League has another unbalanced round with five games on Thursday and one on Tuesday. That only leaves us with two games on Friday. It’s much more difficult to find value today, but at least in the Euro League a lot of players play. Finding the ones that produce can be difficult though.

The Euro league is a different animal. It is much more halfcourt oriented than the NBA game. The games are also eight minutes shorter. There are 16 teams in the Euro League instead of 30. That means a more shallow player pool to choose from!

PORTLAND, OR – APRIL 27: Nick Calathes #12 of the Memphis Grizzlies celebrates after hitting a three point shot in the third quarter of Game Four of the Western Conference quarterfinals during the 2015 NBA Playoffs against the Portland Trail Blazers at Moda Center on April 27, 2015 in Portland, Oregon. Guards:

Nick Calathes has a great matchup, and is easily the best player on the slate. He put up 43.25 DraftKings points in the first game against Unicaja. Calathes wouldn’t be a must play today if the matchup weren’t so great. However, if you are looking to fade and build a more balanced lineup, Nando de Colo has a solid matchup as well. de Colo has played pretty well lately jockeying between starter and sixth man. I definitely trust Nando more than teammate Sergio Rodriguez.

Nemanja Nedovic has a terrible matchup, but he still managed 24 DraftKings points against Athens in the first meeting. At this point, we may have to use someone with a bad matchup since the best and second best guard defenses in the league are in action on the shortest slate of the Euro League season. The other I would consider in an equally bad matchup is Kostas Sloukas. Sloukas picked up 32 DraftKings points in the first meeting with CSKA Moscow. He also is riding a three round streak of more than 25 DraftKings points per game.

Mike James has enjoyed a successful return to Olympiacos after his time with the Phoenix Suns earlier this year. This game against Unicaja presents his best matchup on paper since his return to the Euro League a month ago. This looks like a must play situation on a short slate!

Value is hard to come by today, but the consistent value of Dragan Milosavljevic is hard to ignore. He has been consistently better than Marko Guduric, and I don’t trust the production of Matt Lojeski with James back in the fold. Milosavljevic is easily the best value guard.

Forwards:

This matchup against Fenerbahce is as bad as it gets for Will Clyburn. He is an easy fade for me today. James Augustine is a much safer, and cheaper, option. Even a step down to Jan Vesely is a better option. Vesely has not been all that productive lately, but he did pick up 41.75 in the first meeting with CSKA Moscow this year.

Even though Chris Singleton and James Gist have mostly struggled lately, this is an outstanding matchup for them today. Both were productive in the first meeting with Unicaja, but Gist had the much better game. I would go with Gist if you are only playing one of them.

There is far more value in the middle tier at forward tonight. Or is there? Outside of Nikolo Melli, the collective of Brooks, James Nunnally,  and Adam Waczynski have all struggled lately. All of them provide a lot of risk. I would much rather drop down another tier to Luigi Datome.

Beyond that, K.C. Rivers is about the only other consistent producer at forward. Carlos Suarez is a decent value pick if you can’t afford rivers. Othello Hunter has been playing well lately, but I don’t like the matchup against Fenerbahce at all.
