Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin has been released by the Baltimore Ravens. Where could the veteran performer wind up? Here are three suggestions.
The Baltimore Ravens are revamping their passing attack these days. On Wednesday, they added free-agent wide receiver John Brown from the the Arizona Cardinals. They also appeared to have had a deal with Washington Redskins wideout Ryan Grant. But things apparently fell through after the player reportedly failed a physical (via NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport). Now former Oakland Raiders’ wide receiver Michael Crabtree is also in the mix.
Let’s not bury the lead. The focus here is veteran Jeremy Maclin, who was released by the Ravens earlier this week. In his lone season with the club, he totaled 40 catches for 440 yards and three touchdowns in a dozen games.
Maclin’s career resume with the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs and Ravens adds up to 514 receptions, good for 6,835 yards and 49 scores. So where could the veteran receiver wind up?

1. New York Jets
The team has been busy over the last few days adding pieces to an offensive unit that gained the fifth-fewest total yards and the league and reached the end zone just 32 times. Veteran quarterback Josh McCown returns with newcomer Teddy Bridgewater in tow. The running game will be boosted by the addition of running back Isaiah Crowell while the offensive line now features center Spencer Long.
At wideout, Jermaine Kearse had a solid year after coming over from Seattle. But what does the future hold for Quincy Enunwa, who underwent nick surgery last August? And while standout Robby Anderson led the Jets in receiving yards (941) and TD receptions in 2017 (7), he has some off-the-field issues to deal with. Maclin would be a welcome addition.

2. Indianapolis Colts
It’s been a rough three seasons for a team that reached the playoffs during the first three years of the Andrew Luck Era. There’s a new head coach in Frank Reich, who hopes to get this club back on track via a healthy quarterback. The Colts still have explosive T.Y. Hilton but Donte Moncrief is headed to Jacksonville. With Luck back in the lineup, an experienced receiver such as Maclin would be a big plus.
3. Arizona Cardinals
Only two players in NFL history have totaled more career receptions than Larry Fitzgerald. But the Cardinals, who recently signed quarterbacks Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon, have already lost wideout John Brown to the Ravens while Jaron Brown is a free agent as well. It’s a new ball game with head coach Steve Wilks and offensive coordinator Mike McCoy. The veteran performer could be a key pickup.
