WWE officially announced they will bring WrestleMania to New York City and MetLife Stadium once again in April 2019.

WrestleMania is heading back to MetLife Stadium in 2019 for WrestleMania 35, WWE confirmed.

It will be the stadium’s second WrestleMania after hosting WrestleMania 29 in 2013. The show will also come with the usual cavalcade of WrestleMania events with the Hall of Fame Induction, NXT Takeover and Raw and Smackdown emanating from Barclays Center in Brooklyn throughout the weekend.

New York is no stranger to major WWE events. The city not only hosted WrestleMania 29 five years ago but also has been a regular host for Summer Slam, often considered WWE’s second biggest show of the year.

Now the city gets its latest turn at hosting the biggest event of the year.

It will have to do a lot to top the show it had last time.

WrestleMania 29 raked in $72 million according to WWE and attracted a sold-out crowd of 80,676 fans, the third most attended WrestleMania in the event’s history. With the card they had last time who could blame them? It featured a rematch between John Cena and The Rock, two megastars that drew a lot of casual fan’s eyes. It also had The Undertaker taking on CM Punk and Triple H against Brock Lesnar.

Matching that card next year for the main event will be a big task for WWE. They, of course, have a year to get themselves there. The event takes place April 7, 2019.

Surely WWE will put something together between the time WrestleMania ends in New Orleans this April and New York/New Jersey next April. They have plenty of talented wrestlers — and plenty they are sure to try to sign before then. It is too hard to predict what will headline the show.

But we know WWE will make it big.

This year’s WrestleMania card is shaping up to be an impressive showing with A.J. Styles taking on Shinsuke Nakamura, Roman Reigns facing off against Brock Lesnar and a rumored match between The Undertaker and John Cena.
