3. Marshall over Wichita State

Taking the place of Middle Tennessee from Conference-USA is Marshall. The Thundering Herd were able to win the conference tournament while the Blue Raiders were bounced in the semifinals, earning the lone bid from the league.

Just like Middle Tennessee, Marshall was able to pull off a shocking first-round upset. The Thundering Herd took a page right out of the Blue Raiders’ book, beating 4-seed Wichita State, 81-75.

This was another popular upset pick as the Shockers had been a tough team to judge all season long and lost a couple of games to beatable opponents. The Thundering Herd, on the other hand, have been on fire lately. They should not be taken lightly in the second round, either, as West Virginia awaits.

Led by Jon Elmore, Marshall has been a tough team to beat and the Mountaineers could be on the wrong end of another upset on Sunday.
