1. UMBC over No. 1 Virginia

Here we have it, the first No. 16 over No. 1 upset in college basketball history. Remember the days when a 15-over-2 upset was unthinkable? Those have since happened multiple times and now that the UMBC Retrievers have taken down top-seeded Virginia, could we soon see more 16-over-1 upsets?

This was just unbelievable. Not only did the Retrievers hold their own for most of the game, but they absolutely dominated the second half, shooting over 60 percent most of the way and taking leads of 16 multiple times.

No one saw this being much of a contest as the Retrievers finished in second place in the Am. East Conference in the regular season before winning the conference tournament. Virginia, the No. 1 overall seed in the tourney with two total losses this season, was expected to run away with a win.

With the score tied at 21-21 going into the break, UMBC was given major confidence and came out in the second half and just played like a team possessed.

Go on and celebrate, UMBC, you’ve just made history.
