We saw a historic No. 16 – No. 1 upset but March Madness isn’t close to over. Here’s how to watch all the action for Round 2.
The University of Maryland, Baltimore Country pulled off a historic upset on Friday, knocking off No. 1 overall seed Virginia. It was the first time in the history of the 64-team tournament that a No. 16 seed beat a No. 1. That may have been the highlight but it certainly wasn’t the only surprise in the first round.
Second round action will run across Saturday and Sunday with several intriguing and unexpected matchups. Alabama and freshman phenom Collin Sexton get things started Saturday morning with a matchup against Villanova. Duke will follow that up with a matchup against the dogged Rhode Island Rams. The premier matchup on Saturday, however, may be the nightcap — Houston vs. Michigan. Houston survived a thrilling first round game on the backs of Rob Gray and Michigan is starting to looking like a Final Four sleeper.
On Sunday, Purdue will kick things off against the Butler Bulldogs. Purdue will be playing without their star center Isaac Haas who broke his elbow in their first round game. UMBC will get a game against the Kansas State Wildcats and a chance to continue their magical run into the Sweet 16. The most interesting matchup on Sunday may be Marshall, who upset Wichita State, taking on West Virginia. Dan D’Antoni’s Thundering Herd play an extreme pace-and-space system and this in-state rivalry game should be wild.

Here’s hoping the second round loves up to the excitement of the first. We’ve been blessed with some incredible games but there is still so much more basketball to be played. Of course, prayers up for all your busted brackets, just know you’re in good company.
